The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) says its “NIG@60: Made-In-Nigeria exhibition/trade fair and lecture” will create history and rebrand Nigeria as the pride of Africa.
The association stated this in a statement by Head of Media for the project, Mr Olu Adekunle, on Saturday, in Abuja.
Adekunle said that all arrangements had been concluded for the four days event starting on Sept. 27.
He described the event as the first of its kind in Nigeria, conceptualised with the objective of promoting massive economic development and empowerment schemes at the grassroots.
He added that the event would mark the end of a year-long series of activities designed to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary as directed and approved by President Muhammadu Buhari in September.
Adekunle listed those expected at the opening of the event , at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Garki, Abuja to include the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Others are the Senate President, Sen. Ahmed Lawn; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Minister of Industries, Trade & Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo and Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Sen. George Akume.
He said the occasion would be chaired by the Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, while the FCT Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Bello would be the host.
Adekunle added that the Chairman FCT Council of Chiefs and Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Baba Yunusa, would be the Royal Father of the day for the event.
Others expected to attend include the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mansur Liman and Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Garba Umar.
Also expected are Mr Umana Umana of the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone, ONNE; Simbi Wambote of NCDMB, Local Government Chairmen, Royal Fathers, captains of industry, members of the Diplomatic corps as well as Ahmed Isah, the Founder Brekete Human Rights Radio and others.
The Trade Fair and Exhibition is scheduled for Monday to Thursday, Sept. 30.
