FCT Youth Taskforce Commends Organizations and Individuals Complying to the Donations for Palliative Measures.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) youth taskforce on COVID-19 in collaboration with FCT Indigenous Association has expressed appreciations to some corporate organizations and individuals that had donated toward providing palliatives to the vulnerable residents of Federal Capital Territory FCT during the lockdown.
Comrade Ango Abdullahi Suleiman, Chairman of NYCN FCT Chapter and leader of the taskforce made this call and commendation during a press briefing on the activities of the youth taskforce in Abuja on Wednesday.
He also called for more financial donations to be channeled to the office of FCT Minister to enable the FCT Administration provide more palliatives to cushion hunger and suffering of the masses as a result of the lockdown.
Comrade Inusa Ahmadu Yusuf, the spokesman of FCT indigenous association is calling the attention of the FCT Administration to integrate independent organizations and civil societies in this palliative sharing measures to ensure efficiency and efficacy of the process.
According to Yusuf, hunger is biting harder on the poor masses. Therefore, he urges the Federal government to urgently release whatever palliative due to the FCT residents.
Recall on April 6th, This Taskforce team beckoned on the various companies and businesses situated in Federal Capital Territory to do the needful by donating their social corporate responsibility to the FCT Administration.
They also threaten to shut down the operations of some companies that refused to perform their corporate social responsibilities to the residents, especially the masses of FCT masses with effect from April 9th.
According to Suleiman, the full list of donors in FCT had been released to the taskforce and the threat still stands.
The Chairman also commended the FCTA for supporting their movement with the provision of (3) three Hilux pickups to the taskforce for the sensitization of the communities in FCT.
He also appreciated the contribution of the Senator representing FCT, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, for the donation of 1,000 bags of rice and 100 cartons of hand sanitizers.
In view of this, the taskforce threatens to lockdown companies, estate firms and institutions that refused to announce publicly and channel their contribution to the Minister of FCT for the provision of palliatives to the poor masses of Abuja.
Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, in his speech stated that they have sensitized the vulnerable people such as Garki on this pandemic disease, COVID-19 through Playing the sensitization jingles on COVID-19 around the Area Councils in FCT.
The residents of this remote communities have one of their challenges as lack of power supply to stay connected to vital information from the media regarding the spread of Coronavirus which FCT Administration ought to address this issue.
