“Youths Should Start Thinking Outside the Box or Even Without the Box”- AYRC
The African Youth Resource Centre (AYRC) urges the youths to start thinking outside the box or even without the box amid this COVID-19 pandemic in a town hall webinar held at the early hours of today, May 28th on Zoom Platform.
This 1st edition of the Town Hall Webinar captioned “The Social and Economic Impact of Covid-19 on Nigerian Youth” was moderated by the Speaker & British Council Global Changemaker ‘Dayo Isreal FCAI’ having about 160 participants including the Director General of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) ‘Kashifu Inuwa’ with some Representatives of NITDA, the Minister of State FCT ‘Ramatu Tijani Aliyu’ and others.
Having analyzed the effects of COVID-19 in the economy of Nigeria, the AYRC has come up with this monthly Town Hall webinar to sensitize, inform and update the youths on the numerous opportunities open for them to tap into.
Kashifu Inuwa speaking on ‘Digital Economy’ stated the various strategies which NITDA has put in place for youths as they are projecting creating 150,000 jobs for the innovative Nigerian youths. He also stated some platforms open to youths for participation such as;
Virtual Start up Clinics for youths who intend starting up a business
Virtual Learning Platforms for Education and Skill Acquisition where about 47 courses are being treated.
COVID-19 Innovation Challenge for innovative youths who can produce solution in the form of products are service for the fight of Covid-19
Tech Innovation for youths has flare for Artificial Intelligence
Initiative Programmes for Agriculture in Nigeria to assist young farmers
Business Outsourcing Networks for job creation
Training centres for youths in the ICT Hub etc.
NITDA is collaborating with Universities, Governments Agencies, Innovators, Risk Capitalists and Corporate Organizations to ensure the successful implementation and achievement of Digital economy desired in Nigeria.
According to kashifu, NITDA has provided these platforms to enlighten Nigerian youths on how to maximize the opportunities in Digital Economy. He also stated one of the lessons from Lockdown measures of COVID-19 as “Knowledge is Power”- this made Diversification of the Nation’s economy their greatest achievements so far.
COVID-19 Pandemic took the world by surprise with negative effects on very sectors of the economy, however it has presented a silver lining in accelerated Digital services which defines why Digital Economy is booming amid this pandemic.
In this view, AYRC urge Nigerian youths to think outside the Box or even start thinking without the Box as this is the only way to survival amid the high rate of job loss amid this pandemic.
