With less than 16 days to the biggest sports spectacle on the planet earth holding in Japan’s Tokyo, Team Nigeria is set to storm the Games with hopes of podium finish.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) unveils below the 58 athletes who have qualified and will be carrying the hopes of over 200 million Nigerians in Japan.

As at close of the qualification series few days ago, Nigeria had 58 qualified athletes in nine sports who will be accompanied by 22 coaches.

Following is a breakdown of the sports and athletes:

1. Athletics: 18 (6 male/12 female)
2. Basketball 24 (12 male/12 female)
3. Badminton 3 (2 male/1 female)
4. Canoeing 1 (1 female)
5. Gymnastics 1 (1 male)
6. Rowing 1 (1 female)
7. Table Tennis 4 (2 male/2 female)
8. Taekwondo 1 (1 female)
9. Wrestling 5 (1 male, 4 female)
