PNAI unveils special taskforce on multiple taxation urges citizens to support FG on intelligence gathering

Policing Nigeria Awareness Initiative (PNAI), a security outfit, on Thursday in Abuja urged Nigerians to support the Federal Government in the area of intelligence gathering to rid the country of security challenges.

Founder and Chairman Governing Council, Amb. Egbe Akparakwu Adun made the call at the unveiling ceremony Presidential Policing Marshals Special Taskforce on Multiple Taxation, Tax Justice, Revenue Remittance, Sustainable Food Security and other Crimes.

He also emphasised the need for citizens to support the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to tackle security challenges by carrying out their voluntery supportive activities at the grassroots.

Adun, who is the PNAI Special Intelligence of Marshals, noted that there are so many things citizens could do to add value to national security and nation building.

He said that developing a country was a business of all citizens, saying ” we are in a state where Nigeria must understand and recognise the importance of supporting national building.

” It is not about President Buhari or any former President or the next President to come but it is about the citizens of the Federal republic of Nigeria.

” Out there we think about what to give our country but in Nigeria so many people think about what they can get from Nigeria,” he said.

” For me what I have to give Nigeria is what I am launching today and I need your support, I want government to take ownership.

” And I want every Nigeria that truly love this country to be bold enough to confront anything around you that you know is dragging this country backwards.

” Nigeria is our only country. We don’t have another and for now we must protect it

” Today we are set to unveil the major identity, the major focus and then tell Nigerians that there is still hope.

” If any Nigerian feel that because there is insecurity in the country, the hope is lost tell the people that the hope is not lost.

” Nigeria is our country and until all Nigerians rise the country will not be protected.

” If all persons or individuals will see it from the angle policing Nigeria Marshals is seeing it we will make Nigeria great again.

” Looking at the agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari administration who is doing all he can to see that Nigeria come out of the present security challenges.

” We are calling on citizens to support the administration in the area of intelligent gathering and supporting the government in the areas of carrying out your own voluntary supportive activities at your local levels.

” It can be at the community level, it can be at the local level or at city and even urban cities.

” There are so many things citizens will do to add value to national security and building.

” We are here to unveil a logo, to unveil an identity and to tell Nigerians that the war against multiple Taxations that sounds like a game, that sounds like some person somewhere are playing drum and dancing.

” We want to passed a message to the media and other stakeholders that multiple taxation has done so much things that drag this nation backwards to the point where so many things are not working well

” And until it is taken in this format and taken by every citizen to the grassroots we will not be able to contribute our part to developing Nigeria.”

On his part, Sani Aliyu, the Commandant General, Neighborhood Enlightenment and Safety Organization (NESO), urged Nigerians to rise to the occasion of security awareness.

Aliyu said lack of security awareness had cause the country and Nigerians a lot, stressing the need for all Nigerians to contribute to curtailing insecurity in the country.

Groom slap his bride at their wedding reception

A groom slapped his bride at the wedding reception today and a Twitter user has taken to the platform to narrate how shocked she was after witnessing the scene.

The Twitter user identified as @MmantiUmoh noted that one doesn’t owe violent people love, said the incident was witnessed by the groom and bride’s parents including other family members. She revealed that it left her not wanting to attend weddings for some time.

The Twitter user wrote;

At the reception today, the groom slapped the bride so hard for one second I thought a helium balloon had burst. While we were taking 10 Seconds to recover from the shock… “Angel”; Please let’s march in ****is tired and under a lot of pressure, let’s please just go in and start the reception, everyone is waiting.

The only thing you owe violent people is to see and respect their humanity in ways they refuse for others. But you are not required to see their anger as acceptable. You don’t owe violent people love — ever. It’s not love.

And maybe it’s worthy of note that even the best man asked angel “what did you do to him, why is he upset?” Well, the mc called and music roared and everyone walked in like nothing had happened. Couple danced from the entrance to podium. Cycle of domestic violence begins.

Please don’t ask me what I did. I did absolutely Nothing! Their parents witnessed the slapping ceremony…. some of their family members did too. I went home. I had a migraine. I don’t want to attend any weddings for a bit again. I will send my gift.

For those who insist on living with domestically violent partners. Well, I imagine God doesn’t rejoice over a marriage ending, but do you think God is okay with you being abused and living without love? Do you believe it’s possible that God might hate that even more?

Kenyan man and side chick

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kenya, have arrested a 38-year-old married man over the brutal murder of his girlfriend.

The suspect, Evans Karani is accused of murdering 25-year-old Catherine Nyokabi in Witeithie area, Juja in Kiambu County.

Juja Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO), Richard Mwaura, who confirmed the incident on Friday, April 16, said the suspect attempted to discard Nyokabi’s body on Wednesday but his efforts were thwarted by mud.

While transporting Nyokabi’s body in his car, Karani’s vehicle got stuck in mud on Bob Harris road in Juja, forcing him to flee, leaving the body and car behind, the DCI said.

Police, who arrived at the scene following a report by locals, verified the car ownership from the National Transport and Safety Authority’s Registrar of Motor Vehicles.

A hunt for Karani was, consequently, launched by a multi-agency team comprising police, DCI officers and the agency’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) officer

On Friday morning, April 16, detectives, via phone signal, tracked down Karani to his rented house in Githurai Kimbo area, where they arrested the suspect.

The authorities said Nyokabi’s body had been burnt using a corrosive chemical.

“She was badly disfigured. Besides the burn injuries, she had bruises on the face and head. It appears she was tortured before being killed,” a detective told The Standard.

Authorities said the suspect confessed to killing Nyokabi, a hotel worker in Kahawa Wendani, following a bitter conflict, which they had been embroiled in for the past two weeks.

Karani, who is married, reportedly told police Nyokabi was his secret lover.

The deceased’s father, Gitonga Njogu, told The Standard that initial reports suggested his daughter, the first born in a family of four children, died in a road accident.

“On Facebook, certain people were claiming my child was killed in a car crash in Juja. However, when we got to see her body at the City Mortuary, we were shocked. The visible injuries clearly indicated Nyokabi’s cause of death was not a road accident as had been alleged,” said Njogu.

“My girl (Nyokabi) was hard-working, cheerful and very loving. Her future was promising,” said Njogu while attempting to balance a tear in his eyes.

The old man said Nyokabi had, in the past, introduced Karani to him as her suitor.

“I knew them to be lovers. Just like in any other relationship, they had differences, which I would help them iron out. Two weeks ago, my daughter said she and Karani had broken up. I told her, it was okay; she shouldn’t cling onto a relationship in which she was unhappy. That was the last time I heard of the suspect.”

Karani will be arraigned on Monday, April 19, when detectives would seek to detain him longer to allow for investigations to be completed.
