The Nigeria Youth Compact on Covid-19 (NYCC-19) has come up with a laudable program ‘One Stop Youth Talk on Covid-19’. This Live streaming on Zoom was held on the June,11th 2020 and it will happening every Thursday.
Recall, on June 2nd 2020, the Nigeria Youth Compact on Covid-19 was launched by the Federal Government. Now, they have organized a program ‘One Stop Youth Talk on Covid-19’ which provides a platform for youths from different works of life to discuss matters surrounding the effect of COVID-19 and share ideas pertaining post-COVID-19.

This maiden edition held in Zoom was anchored by the head of publicity and media ‘Millicient Umoru Osakunla’. The live streaming featured; the National Steering Chairman of Nigeria Youth Compact on Covid-19 ‘Comrade Gambo Haruna’, Head of Advocacy and Participation ‘Kasar Moses Teryima’, Head of Data/Statistics ‘Mr Oche Precious Edeh’, Head of Advisory Board ‘Mr. Uzoh Ifeanyi’ and Head of Partnership and Funding ‘Barr. Esther A. Dawaki’.
The Chairman ‘Gambo Haruna’, elaborated more on the vision and mission of the Youth Compact. He also stated that the Nigeria Youth is set to gather the data of all youths affected by the novel Coronavirus even from the grassroot level. He expressed his excitement over the massive inflow of registrations on the website from both individuals and organizations who want to partner with youth compact.
According to Mr. Uzoh Ifeanyi, Youth Compact intend to mine the data of the Nigerian Youths to enable the youth compact change the narratives on Covid-19. He stated that the essence of the data collection which is the major component of this Project is to enable Nigerian Youth Compact generate genuine data which will be used to interface with the major partners and donors of this project while ensuring the youths benefits from the palliative measures provided by these partners.
These partners were stated by Moses Kasar which include; the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Youth House Naija, African Union Youth Envoy, CAYWA, ECOSOC Youth Forum and World Assembly of Youth. He also stated that one of the missions of Youth Compact is Training and Empowerment of youths and this can only be achieved when all the data of these youths are collected accurately. They also identified Peace Corps of Nigeria as the major partner of this project.
However, Gambo stated that the Federal Government is partially involved with Youth Compact but as the project unveils, there will be partnership with the Government and other agencies. He also commended the likes of Commonwealth Association of African Youth, YES Project, Action Aid and the Chairman of FCT on Covid-19 ‘Dr. Ramatu Tijani’, Minister of state on Education ‘Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba’. He urges the youth to register as members of this project because the world is being reset and may not fully recover from this pandemic.
Worthy of note, the youth compact welcomes membership from youths from 18-40 years and they partner with Non-Governmental Organizations, Community Based Organizations and Faith Based Organizations. The youth compact is adopting the crowd funding strategy which means it’s a project open to funding by all.
The program ‘One Stop Youth Talk on Covid -19’ is going to be a weekly program that will engage Nigerian youth so stay tuned every Thursday on Zoom; Nigeria youth compact on Covid-19 (NYCC-19) will be engaging youths on varieties of topics that relates to Covid-19 and Post- Covid-19.
