NIHA Mobilizes Over 300 NGOs to Partner with Government on COVID-19 Reach Out
The Nigerian Humanitarian Action (NIHA) has mobilize over 300 NGOs to partner with the Federal Government on Covid-19 Reach Out.
NIHA is the Principal interface Organization for State and non-State Institutions with a mandate to Initiate, Organize, Advocate & Coordinate Social Enterprises and Humanitarian Assistance within Nigeria as a whole – in order to Improve & Strengthen Government and Non-Governmental Interventions in the Sector.

In view of this, NIHA came up with a laudable Initiative called ‘Reach Out’ through strategic action. The sole goal of ‘Reach Out’ is to aid the fight against Covid-19 via cushioning the direct impact of this pandemic on Nigerians amid the total shutdown of the economy.
This was revealed by the National Convener, Mr Kletsaint Akoh in a media statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, April 15th.
NIHA also plans to mobilize individuals, humanitarian and professional organization, service-oriented benefactors to support government effort in addressing COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria
According to Kletsaint, over 300 Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) on the platform of NIHA are to provide basic relief to the most vulnerable in the society through the support of organization and individuals.
He said NIHA is the institutional rallying point for state and non-state actors in collaborating to address the National Humanitarian emergencies occasioned by COVID-19 in Nigeria. Special appeal for support fund instrument both for government and NGO’s will be deploy including food and critical home needs to the most vulnerable people in Nigeria.
Kletsaint however appeals to Nigerians to bear the pains associated with the lockdown as it is a temporary measure and the best option in curtailing the spread of Coronavirus. He also appealed to corporate organizations, philanthropist and religious organizations who are yet to show support to do so by through ‘Reach Out’.
He also advice Nigerians to observe social distance, use hand sanitizers and maintain regular hygiene during this period.
He revealed that the coalition of NGO’s in NIHA umbrella have their network of volunteers spread across the 36 states and FCT who are ready to volunteer for this course for effective provision of the desire humanitarian support in this critical time.
