Nawa oo… Imagine what happened to this young man on his way back from work… 😳😳😳

After closing from work today, he headed home which is the most logical thing to do after a stressful day.

His friend dropped me off at Dantata bridge some meters away from City Gate and he boarded another vehicle to Lugbe, Abuja.

However, he was seating at the backseat innocently with his till a group of 4 guys stopped their vehicle to board.

His instincts were too strong that he did not want to seat with them at the back seat. He moved to manage with the guy in the front seat.

When they got to Opposite Dan Oil along that Airport highway, these fugitives screamed to drop down. The innocent driver cleared just by the highway and the worst happened.

These four guys were high on whatever… They pounced on him immediately probably because he knotted a tie and looked too gentle.

A few minutes to this incident his instincts made him drop his phone in his bag with his wallet in his palm.

They reached out for his wallet, and bag but he just could not afford to let go as the bag contains literally his valuables.

Taxi drivers who witnessed the scene from afar

As a follow up, they brought out two scary daggers and were coming for his eye. In a reflex induced manner he diverted the knife and immediately used the car’s door in his defence.

He did this spontaneously and that was how these fiery guys fell into the gutter with the door while the driver zoomed off.

The driver being an aged Hausa man and a good man by all standards. He was so shocked that he started screaming!!

If not for the driver’s ability to zoom off when he pushed those guys into the gutter, he would have been used for suya this night but God delivered him.

This is how these scary guys snatch away people’s lives and properties; this is a call to everyone- to be vigilant and sensitive these days. The security situation in Nigeria is becoming unbearable… As long as these scary guys are roaming the streets, no one is safe. Therefore, it is everyone’s due diligence to be security conscious…

Senate increases fine for illegal importation, sale of firearms from N1,000 to N1m

June 30, 2021

The Senate on Wednesday passed the Firearms Act 2004 (Amendment) Bill 2021 raising the fine for illegal importation and sale of firearms from N1,000 to N1 million.

The Bill was passed after it considered the report of its Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.

Presenting the report, Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Michael Bamidele, said “the fine was pegged at N1,000 in the extant Act which was not punitive enough to deter illegal importation and sale of firearms.’’

Section 35 of the Bill was also amended to impose a fine of N3 million or imprisonment for three years or both on anyone who failed to surrender illegal firearms to relevant authorities whenever so directed.

“Clause 39 of the Bill, which deals with power to seize and destroy confiscated illegal firearms, was amended to provide for inclusion of other law enforcement agencies besides the Police and the military.

“This is necessary because the power to confiscate or seize illegal firearms should be all-inclusive and not limited to a particular arm of force or law enforcement agency,’’ Bamidele said.

The Bill also amended Sub-clauses (4) and (5) of Clause 39 to allow firearms that are not of military serviceable grades but are serviceable to be deployed for use by Civilian Joint Task Forces and registered vigilance groups.

This has to be done with the approval and supervision of the Office of the National Security Adviser, however.

“This is important because these joint task forces are also funded by the government,’’ Bamidele stressed.

He noted that the Bill had become imperative in view of the proliferation of firearms and the security challenges the country was faced with.
