Men arrested for allegedly killing and removing the vagina of 6-year-old girl in Bauchi
Two men arrested for allegedly killing and removing the vagina of a 6-year-old girl in Bauchi State have given a motive for their action.
The suspects, Abdulkadir Wada, 19, and Adamu Abdulrauf, 20, said they committed the act for money.
During interrogation, the suspected ritualists said they were asked to bring the sexual organ of a female by a “native doctor” who promised to give them the 500,000 Naira.
The two criminals, who are from Jama’are Local Government Area, were nabbed by men of the Bauchi State Police Command.
Speaking in Hausa, Wada, the chief culprit, said both he and his accomplice, Abdulrauf, had gone to Kwata, the area where the latter’s elder brother, who is married, lives.
There, they waylaid a little girl into an uncompleted building, and strangled her to death before cutting off his private part.
However, Abdulrauf denied killing the girl, saying: “It was Wada who came and met me in our house.
“He told me that he and one of his friend went to a spiritualist who promised them N500,000 if they bring a female vagina.
“But I told him I am not interested.
“So, I discussed with one of my friends called Musa, who advised me to avoid Wada.
“The next day, while I was in my shop doing my mechanic work, I met Wada at the garage.
“He then gave me an amulet (charm), which I threw inside my pocket.
“Later on, we met and he asked me to accompany him to a place called Kwata.
“When we got to the area, we saw two young girls at a location.
“We stopped and called them.
“Wada now removed a handkerchief from his pocket and flashed it on the face of one of the girls.
“After the girl had slumped, he took her into an uncompleted structure and removed her organs, as directed by the native doctor.”
According to the Bauchi State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspects will be arraigned in court after the completion of investigation.
FG establishes 2 new universities of technology, upgrades 4 others
June 21, 2021
The Federal Government has announced the establishment of two additional universities of technology in Jigawa and Akwa Ibom, while also upgrading and equipping four others.
The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Sonny Echono disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on Monday.
Adamu said that a National Institute of Technology (NIT) would be established in Abuja to serve essentially as a postgraduate centre devoted to research and innovation.
According to him, this will draw the best graduates from the six universities of technology as well as other exceptional graduates from reputable universities within and outside Nigeria.
“Recall that at the inception of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, he promised to establish an apex National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Abuja with six Satellite Universities of Technology, one in each geo-political zone of the country.
“This was captured in the 2015 APC Manifesto and also stressed in the Education for Change: Ministerial Strategic Plan 2018 – 2022 of the Ministry. The objective is to stimulate rapid technological transformation of the country.
“After a comprehensive review of the policy by key stakeholders in the education sector, it was resolved that the four existing Universities of
Technology located in Yola (North East), Akure (South West), Owerri (South East) and Minna (North Central) be upgraded and equipped.
“While two additional Universities of Technology to be located in Jigawa and Akwa Ibom States, would be established for the purpose.
“Similarly, a National Institute of Technology (NIT) shall be established in Abuja. The institute shall be patterned after similar institutions in Singapore and Malaysia.
“This is to serve essentially as a postgraduate centre devoted to research and innovation, drawing the best graduates from the six Universities of Technology as well as other exceptional graduates from reputable universities within and outside Nigeria,” he said.
Adamu said that the president had also approved the phased development programme, compelled by the country’s lean resources.
He said that the two new Universities of Technology would be established in 2021, while the upgrade of the existing four Universities of Technology and the National Institute of Technology would come up in 2022.
Adamu said the president had also observed from the report of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, the weak institutional capacity for disease control and surveillance in the country, particularly with respect to medical facilities, trained personnel and supporting infrastructure.
“With the recent establishment of the only Federal Government-owned University of Health Sciences, Otukpo in Benue State and the huge gap in doctor-patient ratio as well as in medical research and production of pharmaceutical products, government recognised the compelling need to establish two other specialised universities in Health, Nutrition and Medical Sciences.
“These universities will be located at Azare, Bauchi State and Ila Orangun, Osun State. These shall lay a solid foundation for building national preparedness and resilience in anticipation of future challenges in the health sector, while reducing medical tourism to countries like India, UAE, Egypt, Europe and the U.S.”
Adamu said that the president had also approved a take-off grant of N4 billion each for the Universities of Technology and N5 billion each for the Universities of Health Science from the funding Resources of Tetfund.
He said that the ministry would collaborate with the Federal Ministries of Health, Science and Technology, Communications and Digital Economy, the FCT Administration as well as other relevant agencies and Institutions to facilitate speedy actualisation of these projects.

Paedophile arrested for hacking into home security cameras of more than 70 families worldwide to steal over 1,000 pictures of naked children
A man has been arrested on suspicion of hacking the home security cameras of more than 70 families around the world and obtaining more than 1,000 images of naked children.
Police say the alleged paedophile who is British, was arrested in Spain.
He worked as a babysitter and private tutor, but also sold child porn on the dark web using Bitcoins and was accused of sexually harassing nearly a dozen minors he filmed naked in video chats before threatening them.
He was arrested by Spanish police in Benidorm following a tip-off from colleagues in Queensland in Australia.
Police discovered his real identity after breaking through tight cyber security he had established.
He obtained explicit footage by hacking families’ IP indoor home security cameras including that of children based in Britain as well as the US, Canada and Brazil.
The suspect’s age has not yet been revealed although police say he was known to the authorities after being arrested as a minor for committing child porn offences.
A spokesman for Spain’s National Police confirmed: ‘Officers have arrested an alleged paedophile in Benidorm who had managed to access the home security cameras of more than 70 families in different countries around the world and obtained more than 1,000 videos of naked children.
‘He also allegedly sexually harassed at least 11 minors he filmed naked and sometimes threatened after they accessed video chats.
‘He was very active on the dark web and had organised a system of child porn sales based on bitcoins or the exchange of images filmed by his clients.
‘Investigations began when officers from the Task Force Argos, a branch of the Queensland Police Service responsible for the investigation of online child exploitation and abuse, discovered sexual images they suspected were of a child from an area in the Pacific.
‘Their analysis pointed to the images being modified and posted online from Spain.
‘Spanish National Police then began a process of close cooperation with their Australian colleagues to try to identify and detain the person responsible.’
Police say the suspect operated under different user names online to post his sordid images, the Spanish force added in a statement:
‘National Police specialists also discovered he offered his services as a babysitter and, taking advantage of his British nationality, worked as a home tutor teaching English.
‘This work enable him to have around 10 pupils, which heightened the concern of investigators who decided to proceed to arrest him.’
As well as allegedly organising a bitcoin or image-exchange system of child pornography sales, police say he charged commissions for acting as an intermediary between producers of child porn and consumers of child porn.
The police spokesman said: ‘ The home security cameras he hacked are designed to enable parents to monitor their kids when they are not at home and can be accessed over mobiles.
‘If they are not properly configured they are very vulnerable.
‘In this case more than than 1,000 videos belonging to families from countries like Brazil, the US, the UK and Canada among others have been found.
‘It has also been discovered that on at least one occasion, the suspect obtained images of the underwear of the children he tutored privately and filmed without their knowledge.
‘He is now being held on remand in prison following a court appearance as the investigation against him continues.’
