Man Arraigned for Impersonating Vetiva Capital Limited
A 22-year-old man, Jeremiah Onochie has been arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory Court sitting in Abuja for impersonating Vetiva Capital Limited and obtaining money from members of the public with a promise of 100% interest within one hour.

A statement by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), states that during the arraignment before Senior Magistrate Ibrahim Mohammed of FCT Court 6, it was gathered that Vetiva Capital Management Ltd on January 08, had written a petition against three individuals namely: Jeremiah Chukwu Onochie, Hussaini Abdulrasheed and Chinonso Ndu for impersonation and obtaining money from members of the public with the promise of 100% interest within an hour.
One of the suspect Jeremiah was tracked and arrested by Securities and Exchange Commission Police Unit for impersonation by posing and claiming to be the Managing Director of the company.

Furthermore, the suspect it was alleged, opened a WhatsApp group which he used to lure investors and promised victims 100% profits within one hour of investing. He also opened a bank account with UBA Bank Plc and used POS to move the money out of the account within the shortest possible period.
According to the prosecutor, the bank records shows that about Half a million was deposited by different investors at different time to the bank account, and there was almost immediate movement of money out of the account.
“However, Onochie claimed that on the day he collected this ATM card at the bank on his way from the bank on November 18, 2019 he was ambushed by armed robbers on that same day.
The armed robbers at gun point took his ATM Bank Card, the PIN Number and his Bank Account Number and threatened him not to inform the police or even think of reporting to the bank talk more of blocking and changing his account and pin number. That was why he did not report the robbery to the appropriate authorities.
“On the other hand, records from the bank showed that, he made personal deposit of N1500.00 into the account on 22nd November 2019 which is four (4) days after he claimed to have been attacked by armed robbers, he was tracked and arrested on 13th March 2020 in Enugu, Enugu state” the charge read.
Senior Magistrate Ibrahim Mohammed after listening to both sides adjourned the case to May 17, 2020 as the suspect pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
Request for bail by the defendant was granted on the condition that he meets the condition of paying the sum of N1million, provide a surety that resides in Abuja, and has complete and valid property documents and must reside within FCT to be able to present him for the next trial.
The suspect, Onochie hails from Amego, Akegbu Ugwu Village, Enugu State. The other suspects that are believed to be working with him are Hussaini Abdulrasheed and Chinonso Ndu who are still at large.
Vetiva Capital Management Limited is a Financial Service company incorporated in Nigeria and is duly regulated and registered by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

A 25-year-old Nigerian has been arrested in India for allegedly scamming a 62-year-old woman from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, of Rs 31.64 lakh (N16,048,923.81)
“The accused, Wisdom Obinna, from Imo State, was part of a gang that befriended women on social media and then scam them with lottery and gift frauds,” said Indore Cyber Cell Superintendent of Police, Jitendra Singh, on Friday, April 9.
“Obinna was arrested from Delhi, where he was staying even after his business visa expired. Efforts are on to nab other members of the gang,” he added.

During the interrogation, the accused said that he came to India on Business Visa in 2014 and 2017. After the visa expired, he became active in cheating and used to operate from Delhi.
The gang members befriend Indian girls and women on Facebook by creating accounts with different foreign fake IDs.
After Wisdom has made friends with the women, he lured his victims by claiming he sent them some expensive gifts.
Later, other members of the gang pose as custom officers and demand money in the name of Tax and Penalty to get the parcel, send a message through bank account WhatsApp and get the money transfer. They would also threaten the victim with legal action.
Police recovered eight passbooks of various banks, three ATM cards, two laptops, three pen drives, 9 mobile phones, eight SIM cards, two dongles, passports and Rs 11000 in cash from the accused.

Twitter announced today that the company is now in Africa, with its headquarters in Ghana.
“Twitter is now present on the continent. Thank you Ghana and @NakufoAddo,” Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey tweeted today, April 12.
Abubakar Suleiman, the CEO of Sterling Bank, has weighed in on the conversation about Twitter making Ghana its headquarters in African.
Nigerians reacted to the fact that Ghana, and not Nigeria, was chosen to be the headquarters.
Then Suleiman tweeted: “First you tell the world Nigeria is a zoo.. Then you hear @TwitterSF has chosen @GhanaPresidency as their WA headquarters & you are wondering why.

Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo was the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria. He graduated with degree of Economics from University of Nigeria Nsukka. He worked for World Bank as at 1993 for both long and short term work as consultant. Soludo was among the workforce of Obasanjo administration as the Economic Advisor to the President and the Chief Executive of the National Planning Committee.
In 2019, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Soludo as member of his Economic Advisory Council (EAC). In 2009, he contested for Anambra state governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he lost to Peter Obi of All Progressives Grand Alliance. (APGA)

‘Attack on Charles Soludo could be politically motivated’
According to a support group, the attack on Soludo, an aspirants of the Governorship election in Anambra State, South Eastern Nigeria could be politically motivated.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would be holding Anambra Governorship election eight months from now, November 6, 2021.
“What happened to Professor Soludo is politically motivated. The plan is to discourage him and all his supporters ahead of the election,” Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, Chairman of All Soludo Support Groups speaking to BBC .
According to Glamour, “the attack happen between 4pm and 5pm after Prof. Soludo finished a rally he was holding in Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state. Unknown gunmen stormed the venue, shooting sporadically into the air and killed three of the security aides of the ex-CBN governor. The officers who dead were shot in the process of protecting Soludo and one of the aides was kidnapped.
“Police is on top of the matter and we hope they find the culprits who carried out this operation.”

Prof. Charles Chukwuemeka Soludo is Safe
The Anambra state police commissioner, Monday Kuryas, has said that the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Anambra state governorship aspirant, Charles Soludo, is safe.
In an interview with Channels TV, the state police boss, Monday Kuryas, said Mr. Soludo is safe. He, however, disclosed that the state Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, was abducted by the gunmen.
”The former CBN governor was holding a townhall meeting with the youths of his community called Isuofia in Aguata local government area of the state.
Suddenly, unknown gunmen attacked my men that were providing security for him. In the exchange of fire, three of my men were killed but the Professor is safe.
However, the Commisioner for Public Utilities, Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, was abducted in the process and my men are on the heels of the abductors.” he said
