The 39-year-old reality star who is also an influential entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian mourns the death of an Alabama death row inmate “Nathaniel Woods” as he was executed over a crime another man confessed to despite last minutes attempts to save his life.
Nathaniel Woods was convicted for the murder of Birmingham Police Officers, ‘Carlos Owen, Harley Chisolm and Charles Bennett. He was sentenced to death on June 17, 2004.
However, a number of activists, including Kim Kardashian, Martin Luther King III, and Shaun King called for the state’s governor to intervene and stop the planned execution since co-defendant, Kerry Spencer, confessed to the crime in a handwritten letter provided by his attorneys this week.
Spencer wrote in the letter: “Nathaniel Woods is 100% innocent. I know this to be a fact because I’m the person that shot and killed all three of the officers.”
Woods and his roommate Kerry Spencer were dealing crack cocaine at their home when the officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant before they were all gunned down. According to the reports of Associate Police, Spencer pulled the trigger but the prosecutors say Woods came up with the idea to ambush and murder the officers. Spencer was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. No execution date has been set for him.
What I don’t seem to understand is- Why will the person who came up with an impulse idea be executed first yet the murderer has no date of execution yet?? I would say an act of injustice has been committed against an innocent man. I believe Spencer is an adult who should be executed for the actions over an impulse idea from a man under pressure. It’s true Woods brought up the idea but Spencer made the choice himself.
As Nathaniel’s execution drew closer, Kim Kardashian and some activists called on Alabama governor, Kay Ivey to stop the planned execution.
Hours before his planned execution, Kim Kardashian wrote on her Instagram Stories:
“Nathaniel Woods is scheduled to be executed in Alabama TONIGHT for murders he did not commit. Join the broad coalition – including members of the jury and relatives of the victims – in urging @GovernorKayIvey and @AGSteveMarshall to save Nate’s execution.”
It had seemed like Woods would get the reprieve so many were hoping for when earlier on Thursday the Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas signed a stay of execution order, which detailed that Woods’ execution would not proceed “pending further order of the undersigned or of the Court,” The Hill reported.
However, shortly after Thomas submitted the order, the Supreme Court denied to further review of Woods’ case and the stay was lifted. The Supreme Court’s decision comes after Alabama Governor, Kay Ivey announced she had no plans to stop the execution.
Kardashian West shared a copy of Ivey’s letter, which the governor issued after reviewing a request to reprieve the death sentence. She wrote alongside a copy of Ivey’s letter:
“The court has lifted the temporary stay of execution for #NathanielWoods. The governor will NOT save his life. My heart and prayers are with Nate and his family. This is a tragic example of injustice in the system — in a few minutes Nate may die for a crime he did not commit.
Expressing her disappointment in the criminal justice system, Kim wrote in another tweet:
“Nate will die for a crime another man confessed to and says Nate had nothing to do with. My heart and prayers are with Nate and his family and all the advocates who worked tirelessly to save his life.”
Nathaniel Woods was killed by lethal injection at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, ABC News reported. He was pronounced dead at 9:01 p.m. local time on March 5, 2020. For his final meal, Woods requested sweet potatoes, spinach, chicken patty, chicken leg quarter, cooked apples, fries, two oranges and an orange-flavored drink, the Alabama Department of Corrections said in a statement obtained by ABC News. He took only one bite.
Activist Martin Luther King III has also spoken out tweeting;
“In the case of Nathaniel Woods, the actions of the U.S. Supreme Court and the Governor of the State of Alabama are reprehensible, and have potentially contributed to an irreversible injustice. It makes a mockery of justice and constitutional guarantees to a fair trial.”
The Activist, Martin Lurther King III
Some twitter users reacted on this; some were in support and some opposed to the execution but in all I would say “This is an act of injustice against Nathaniel Woods and this singular unfair execution has the tendency to birth a chain of irreversible injustice in Alabama”.
A groom slapped his bride at the wedding reception today and a Twitter user has taken to the platform to narrate how shocked she was after witnessing the scene.
The Twitter user identified as @MmantiUmoh noted that one doesn’t owe violent people love, said the incident was witnessed by the groom and bride’s parents including other family members. She revealed that it left her not wanting to attend weddings for some time.
The Twitter user wrote;
….. and start the reception, everyone is waiting.
The only thing you owe violent people is to see and respect their humanity in ways they refuse for others. But you are not required to see their anger as acceptable.
You don’t owe violent people love — ever.
A man I admire – Pastor John always reminds couples…
God knows the Hell you’ve been through more than anyone.
Hear this truth, Beloved: God doesn’t hate divorce more than
God adores you.
Be encouraged. Don’t condone domestic violence from your wife or husband. LEAVE!!!
At the reception today, the groom slapped the bride so hard for one second I thought a helium balloon had burst.
While we were taking 10 Seconds to recover from the shock… “Angel”; Please let’s march in ****is tired and under a lot of pressure, let’s please just go in and…

And maybe it’s worthy of note that even the best man asked angel “what did you do to him, why is he upset?” Well, the mc called and music roared and everyone walked in like nothing had happened. Couple danced from the entrance to podium. Cycle of domestic violence begins.
Please don’t ask me what I did. I did absolutely Nothing! Their parents witnessed the slapping ceremony…. some of their family members did too. I went home. I had a migraine. I don’t want to attend any weddings for a bit again. I will send my gift.
For those who insist on living with domestically violent partners. Well, I imagine God doesn’t rejoice over a marriage ending, but do you think God is okay with you being abused and living without love? Do you believe it’s possible that God might hate that even more?
On Saturday night, Zendaya wore a gorgeous green blazer dress to accept the Virtuosos Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
It was paired with Bulgari jewelry and matching glittery pumps, which pretty much broke the internet.
Her longtime stylist and Legendary judge Law Roach posted a photo of the Malcolm & Marie star to Instagram, showing off the look on his muse.
“Easy Kill….. @zendaya wearing @pertegaz and @bulgari jewels,” he captioned his post, listing details for Z’s all-green outfit. The glittery blazer dress — which looks like it came straight from Emerald City — was designed by Manuel Pertegaz for PERTEGAZ.
With a look this good, I don’t blame Zendaya for regramming. The 24-year-old actress took it upon herself to post the photo on her profile as well.
