Consul-General of Nigerian Embassy Confronts Chinese officials Over the Maltreatment of Nigerians in China.
Consul-General of Nigeria confronts Chinese officials over the maltreatment of Nigerians in China.
The Consul-General of Nigeria, ‘Mr Anozie Madaubuchi Cyril’ in Guangzhou, China confronted some Chinese officials over the maltreatment of Nigerians days after the video of Nigerians being sent out of their apartments in the Asian country went viral on social media.
He accused Chinese officials of maltreating Nigerians over the COVID-19 disease pandemic in the Asian country.
The ambassador insisted in confirmation that no Chinese citizen has been served same treatment in Nigeria. He also pointed out that same act is not meted out to citizens of other countries where Coronavirus has been confirmed in.
He disclosed that most Nigerians who are victims of the Chinese government maltreatment live in China and have not been out of the country due to the seizure of the passports of Nigerian nationals in Guangzhou.
According to Anozie, the seizure of the international passports of the Nigerians was an affront to Nigeria and tantamount to seizure of Nigeria as a country.
He further contended that the passports were property of the Nigerian government and China had no right to seize them.
Anozie, who was shown in one of the videos snatching the passports from the Chinese officials, is believed to have acted following reports that Chinese officials had been maltreating Nigerians, hoarding them out of their houses into quarantine, which continued even after they had tested negative to the COVID-19 virus.
