It became a drama today at the court hearing of the case No 8: Aliyu Nahuche vs FCTA when the complainant apologized for having two counsellors at the previously adjourned case and formally withdrew the Motion of Notice and Memorandum of Appearance filed on the 21st of January, 2020.
The defendant argued that the claimer, the General Manager of FCT Water board in the person of Engr. Ahmed Aliyu Nahuce said he will provide a counsellor.
“How can the Chairman of FCT Waterboard who is a part-time Board Member and does not participate in the administration of the affairs of the Waterboard now hiring the services of his personal Lawyer to defend FCT Waterboard? According to the Law, it is not acceptable” He said.
The Complainant argued on the fact that the defendant did not file any Motion of Notice nor Memorandum of Appearance and as such he is not allowed to argue any fact in the court of law.
Now the public is left with the questions; Who runs the FCT Waterboard? Who has the power to appoint a legal Personnel for the FCT Waterboard? and What is the due procedure for appointing legal personnel? Therefore, Stay tuned as the court decides the verdict on the 25th February, 2020.
