No fewer than 6,228 patients have benefited from the free medical outreach initiated by Sen. Bimos Yaroe, representing Adamawa South Senatorial zone.
Dr Tonko Bethuel, Principal Medical Officer, General Hospital, Numan, disclosed this at the closing ceremony of the exercise on Saturday in Numan.
Bethuel said the patients were treated for various ailments under the 5th Batch of the free medical outreach initiated by the lawmaker.
He said that a team of medical experts conducted surgical operations to 321 patients diagnosed for hernia and appendix; 261 cataract, 68 fibroid and Caesarian Section (CS).
He explained that 3,204 patients were tested for diferent laboratory analysis and 210 dental care while 628 received medical glasses and 324 others benefited from free eye medical services.
In his remarks, Yaroe described the exercise as successful, noting that the number of the beneficiaries surpassed the 5,000 targetted population for the exercise.
Yaroe said the exercise was designed to enhance access to quality healthcare service delivery in the area.
According to him, about 21,000 patients have so far benefited from similar exercises at Demsa, Ganye, Guyuk and Mayo-Belwa Local Government Areas of the state.
He commended the state government over the ongoing healthcare infrastructure development projects in the state.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the gesture, saying it has improved their health status.
